Center of Biotechnology
Mission
To act in the fields of biotechnology and health, forming human resources and
producing scientific knowledge and technological development, aiming at the
improvement of the life quality of the Brazilian population.
The Biotechnology Center has great tradition in Research and Development, as
well as in teaching. It has significantly contributed for the formation of
human resources, being involved in several postgraduate courses. The
collaboration and student exchange with several cutting edge laboratories
around the world sustains and refines both activities.
The Center is composed by two groups: Animal toxins derived drugs and
hypophisary hormones, besides having a laboratory animal breeding facility.
The Internal Biosafety Commission (CIBio) and the Animal Welfare Commision (CEUAIPEN)
from the institute are under coordination of this Center.
